Gromit Unleashed Exhibition & Auction
Armasec were asked to manage and control the queuing system for the recent Gromit Unleashed exhibition in the centre of Bristol. We implemented and enforced road closures, created a ‘disney’ style quieting system and supplied front of house event safety staff to ensure the exhibition ran as smoothly as possible.
From 18th to 23rd September, the Gromit sculptures took up residence at Beacon House, the former Habitat store in Clifton, Bristol for a grand exhibition titled ‘The Greatest Dog Show on Earth’. Over 25,000 people came to visit the Gromits, which included a surprise 81st Gromit in the exhibition gift shop! The exhibition was so popular – with Gromit lovers arriving from the early hours of the morning – the exhibition was extended for an extra day to give fans more time to visit.
After 10 weeks on a public trail and then the exhibition the gromits went to auction on Thursday 3 October. Hosted by Sotheby’s auctioneer and TV antiques presenter Tim Wonnacott, the auction raised an amazing £2.3million for Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Appeal to support sick children and their families at Bristol Children’s Hospital.
